Selimovic, Johanna Mannergren. 2013. Peacebuilding 1, no. 3: 334-348.

This text discusses the conflict between external and internal actors in memorialising peace by conducting a comparative analysis of memorials to the Srebrenica Massacre in present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Rwandan genocide. Beyond examining the political processes involved in the construction of these monuments, the article also outlines the power found in narratives and sites of memory built in the aftermath of conflict and crimes against humanity.
