Lipschutz, Ronnie D. 1998. Social Justice 25, no. 4: 5-19.

This article argues that neoliberal peacebuilding focuses far too heavily on military, technical, and economic justice while often ignoring the need to ensure that any initiatives and institutions achieve social justice within affected societies. Key to this is the nature of the modern international political economy which possesses a tendency to exacerbate existing social inequality. The text concludes by outlining a “social work” approach to foreign policy with focus reoriented towards long-term outcomes emphasising reconciliation through trust-building efforts.
