Harris, Ian M. Journal of peace education 1, no. 1 (2004): 5-20.

This piece discusses the development and utilisation of peace education around the world. It discusses five types of peace education:

  1. international education
  2. human rights education
  3. developmental education
  4. environmental education
  5. conflict resolution education

The author gives an overview of all these types of peace education, discussing their objectives and how they came into fruition. The article gives an interesting overview of peace education in its strengths and weaknesses. The author argues that all types of peace education overlap, and all work towards the same goal through different prisms. The explanation discusses the history of peace education, which is useful as it gives further context to why they exist in the way they do. I would recommend reading this article, as it gives a solid overview of the subject and encourages further reading into the different aspects of peace education theory. The primary limitation of this article is its age. The sections on the more modern forms of peace education are sparse compared to the earlier sections. For example, the environmental section touches briefly on sustainable development but does not go into the subject in depth. This is due to the newness of the subject when the article was written. Nonetheless, the article gives a good overview of peace education and should therefore be read.
