Beyond the Liberal Peace Project: Toward Peace with Justice
van der Linden, H. 2002. In Journal of Social Philosophy 32 (3): 419-430.
This article highlights the gaps in the liberal peace project, emphasising the need for a conceptualisation of peace centred on a global economic reform aimed at achieving social justice in financial markets. The text explains how the process of democratisation and liberalisation exacerbates issues such as resource depletion and environmental degradation, leading to further conflicts stemming from ecological and economic issues. In response, the author offers practical suggestions to create a “social dimension” in global markets, stressing the need for justice in order to achieve sustainable peace worldwide.
