Mohammed, Sadek R. 2018. World Literature Today 92, no. 2: 32-36.

Mohammed discusses the history of the Iraqi novel from the 1920s onward, including the large output in the 1960s, the character of highly censored novels produced between 1980 and 2003, many of which were war novels, up to the more recent increase in novels after 2003. These novels are still primarily focused on war and violence, but the novel is becoming increasingly prevalent in the Iraqi and global literary world.
