Porter, Elisabeth. 2016. Peacebuilding 4, no. 2: 210-225.

This article problematises the concept of ‘post-conflict’ through the feminist lens and asserts that, even in the absence of formal inter-state or inter-group conflict, acts of gendered violence such as physical harm inflicted by partners returning from conflict remain common. The text, therefore, argues for feminist engagement with reconciliation through empathy and truth-telling and highlight’s Galtung’s conception of positive peace, the absence of structural violence, as a vital pre-condition for the creation of a lasting peace.
